Visit Dutch Council for Culture

On Thursday August 16 Joop Daalmeijer, the president of the Dutch Council for Culture, visited Manifesta 9 in Genk.

The Council for Culture is the legal adviser of the government in the fields of the arts, culture and media. The Council provides recommendations regarding the cultural policy in the Netherlands, whether it is requested of them or not. Every four years, the Council presents its recommendations on the perennial, government-subsidised, cultural institutions.

At Manifesta 9 Mr. Daalmeijer and his team from the Council for Culture where received by Manifesta Director Hedwig Fijen who introduced them to the concept and context of this 9th edition of the European Biennial. After which our guests where guided through the exhibition by Lisa Heinis, one of our team of Manifesta 9 Art Mediators.

The delegation of the Council for Culture was very enthousiactic about Manifesta 9. In the words of the president: “Manifesta 9 is more than worth the short drive from the Netherlands”. Read the full review on the Council Blog here: Blog Joop Daalmeijer nr. 3
