Manifesta Foundation is governed by a Director. The Director is responsible for the policies and management of the organisation.
The Foundation has a Supervisory Board responsible for supervising the policy plan of the Director and the general business of the Foundation and its related organisation. The Board offers counsel to the Director.

The principal object of the Foundation is to promote mutual cooperation and communication among different cultural institutions, and to initiate and execute a recurring interdisciplinary manifestation as well as everything related or conducive to the foregoing.
Remuneration of the Director is determined by the Supervisory Board.
Members of the Supervisory Board receive no compensation. Expenses made during the performance of their duties may be reimbursed.
Manifesta Foundation is the initiator and producer of the nomadic contemporary art biennial called Manifesta, which takes place every two years in a different location in Europe. Its daily tasks include the overall organization of all stages of development of the Manifesta Biennial, as well as the publication of catalogues and books; the development of the education program; the maintenance of the Manifesta archive and the organization of symposia and international cultural events such as the Manifesta Coffee Break.
