Manifesta’s Radio Sonono at the Stadsschouwburg

Manifeest – an event for peace in the Stadsschouwburg – will be the stage for a pop-up radio broadcast from the Syrian professionals that are supported by the Manifesta Foundation in which storytelling, music, and current issues are central.

Manifesta Foundation invited a group of young Syrian professionals residing in the Netherlands to develop a project that creates a dialogue and a mutual understanding between both Syrian and Dutch professionals. This project materialized into a radio station where they will exchange their stories, music and current socio-political topics relevant to their own experience. The project is an initiative of the Manifesta Foundation and supported by Stichting DOEN, Free Press Unlimited and Taxi Electric.

“Manifeest is a festival of ideas, opinions, humor, inspiration and fun. A festival dedicated to peace. An evening that celebrates creativity mixed with music, art, and entertainment. These forms of expression are the first to be threatened when peace is at stake, a prospect that unfortunately feels more present and relevant now more than ever. Join us Saturday 24 September 2016, in the final weekend of the Peace, at the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam. Our ‘Peace Palace’ is packed with DJs, music, humor, entertainment and culture. PAX. Peace. Who dares?

Manifeest is one of the many peace initiatives of PAX and takes place during the annual Peace Week. PAX brings people together who have the courage to dedicate themselves to peace in the world. All over the world, PAX works closely with people in conflict and concerned citizens in a humane and peaceful society.
