Video installation at General Staff Building

In this video Marianna (The Fairy Doll), the Dutch artist Rineke Dijkstra depicted a ten-year-old Russian classical ballet dancer, rehearsing moves and following the strict rules of the discipline. As time passes by, she shows a spirit of rebellion, if only during brief moments, which gives the viewer pause to question concepts such as identity, discipline, competition and perfection.
