Matías Daporta is a transdisciplinary artist who navigates the realms of performance, video, text and curatorship. His work serves as a poignant critique of cultural norms, challenging concepts like cultural homogenisation and bureaucratic language. Daporta places a strong emphasis on the need to reshape established cultural paradigms, employing what he terms "literal devices". These devices involve reconstructing real-life scenarios and altering specific elements to stimulate new perspectives. Beyond his artistic pursuits, Daporta is the visionary behind Me gustas pixelad_, a pioneering curatorial programme at La Casa Encendida in Madrid that explores the convergence of performance and digital culture. Additionally, in 2014, he established DESFOGA in Galicia, a residency programme and festival dedicated to addressing power dynamics, inequalities and human rights violations through immersive performances, installations and exhibitions.
