Manifesta 14 Public Survey

Related to Manifesta 14 Prishtina

Public Survey Press Conference at the Centre for Narrative Practice.

From the 22nd of July to the 30th of October of last year, Manifesta 14 Prishtina captivated the city with its biennial programme, leaving a lasting impact on the cultural landscape. Manifesta 14 Prishtina was invited by the City of Prishtina to engage its citizens and breathe new life into public spaces throughout the city. As the largest cultural event in Kosovo in 2022, Manifesta 14 successfully fulfilled its mission to revitalise public spaces and create an alternative model for a permanent institution in Prishtina with the Centre for Narrative Practice.

To evaluate the overall impact of Manifesta 14 Prishtina, the biennial commissioned an independent public survey conducted by the GAP Institute and UBO Consulting. The survey aimed to assess the social, cultural, and economic value brought by Manifesta 14 to Prishtina and Kosovo.

The Public Survey examined various aspects of the biennial programme and collected valuable insights from visitors, assessing their perceptions and demographic composition. Additionally, the study measured the broader socio-cultural influence of Manifesta and evaluated the economic impact and added value generated during the event and beyond.

The biennial drew an impressive 139,000 visitors, accumulating a staggering total of 807,000 visits across its 25 venues, both indoor and outdoor. With over 200 events organised within the biennial’s public programme, Manifesta 14 showcased the best of the arts in Kosovo.

The results of the Public Survey deemed Manifesta 14 Prishtina as the most significant cultural and arts event ever held in Prishtina, since Kosovo’s independence in 2008. The biennial garnered widespread international press attention and international visitors, in many cases the first time people had visited the country. With regards to economic impact, the return on investment of Manifesta 14 Prishtina was 4 times.

Manifesta 14 Prishtina’s success demonstrated the power of events for promoting cultural dialogue, and forging a new narrative for the city. The event has left a legacy on Prishtina’s cultural scene with the Centre for Narrative Practice, which remains as a cultural hub in the heart of the city.
