Reactivation of the Centre for Narrative Practice in Prishtina

Related to Manifesta 14 Prishtina

During Manifesta 14 Prishtina in 2022, the former Hivzi Sylejmani Library was renovated and transformed into the Centre for Narrative Practice, becoming a key venue of Manifesta 14’s Artistic and Educational Programme.

We are delighted that this space is being used again for cultural and community programming. It is encouraging to see the building activated through the work of local initiatives, continuing its role as a place for gathering and storytelling, and building on the foundations established during Manifesta 14 Prishtina.

The fashion exhibition LOST & FOUND... AGAIN by designer Vlera Çoçaj, which opened on the 25th of June 2026, is an example of these reactivations. Çoçaj presents textile-based works that combine archival photography, garment-making and direct-to-textile 3D printing technology, exploring new possibilities for storytelling through material innovation.

“The resulting works exist in an in-between space: neither fully garment, nor artifact, nor document, nor sculpture, but hybrid forms shaped by personal history and contemporary processes of materialisation,” Çoçaj states. The project was developed with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Kosovo and the Municipality of Prishtina.

About Manifesta 14 Prishtina

Under the title It matters what worlds world worlds: how to tell stories otherwise, Manifesta 14 Prishtina took up the challenge of exploring new ways of collective storytelling. The concept positioned storytelling as central to how we live as a society, viewing the creation of stories as a way of opening our minds to new ways of thinking to imagine different futures for Kosovo and the City of Prishtina. Through telling a variety of stories, in different ways, Manifesta 14 Prishtina aimed to become a more inclusive and diverse platform, without hierarchies or boundaries.
