Artist and filmmaker Pınar Öğrenci lives in Berlin. Her background in architecture and restoration informs her experiential, video-based works and installations, which engage with decolonial and feminist concerns at the intersection of social, political, and spatial research. She engages with place and architecture as sites where violence materialises. Her artistic language focuses on the transmission of stories throughout generations, often using popular genres and practices, ranging from poetry and music to public protest. Her practice serves as a response to a collective past often left in silence and urging her audience to imagine a future built on justice, equality and collective healing.
