Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.

For the Ages. Video installation 13’40” loop, UHD video, colour, 5.1.
In his videos, photographs and installations, Niklas Goldbach examines the relationship between architecture and necropolitics – a term from the field of political science which describes the use of political and social power to dictate how some people may live and how some must die. He often moves between reality and fiction, isolating, using and placing architectural elements into a new context. Focusing on spaces and sites where ideology becomes visible to the eye, Goldbach reveals how architecture shapes how we look at behaviour, exclusion and desire within today's social and political reality.
