Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.
Aline Bouvy, LU

The Lore of Us, 2026. Site-specific installation, mixed media.
Aline Bouvy’s work investigates how social norms influence bodies, behaviours and what is allowed to be seen. Using film, sculpture, sound and installation, she explores how control, shame and judgement are built into everyday actions and language. Her practice often includes figures or materials associated with discomfort, excess, or impropriety to expose how hierarchies are created, enforced and naturalised.
Moving between fiction, documentary styles and working with space itself, Bouvy creates experiences that affect viewers both physically and psychologically. Her work encourages reflections on how we perceive others, how power operates and how bodies are shaped, accepted, controlled or excluded in today’s society.
