Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.

Miedya Mahmod has been working at the intersection of paper and stage poetry, as an individual and in a collective setting since 2016. Mahmod leads writing workshops, designs and moderates discussion and reading formats. They are part of the artist collective parallelgesellschaft, which organises monthly events in Berlin-Neukölln. Their interdisciplinary practice combines text, voice and performance and is characterised by a language- and power-critical, postcolonial, queer & anti-ableist perspective. Current focal points include: health system(s), complexity in intersectional realities of life, racist, classist and patriarchal continuities in Germany, with special attention to bodies and images, the loss of language, multilingualism as well as subjects of neurodivergence between so-called "generic terms".
